HMZ runs alongside the fact that the color, pattern, or color modifier is dominant and overall would be a factor in the color of the foal. For example: XY, Ee, TOTO, BLBL, Pp, VSVS would be considered a Black Tobiano Blanket Pintaloosa and would be HMZ because it has more complete dominant genes than not and would alter the color of the foal by ensuring tobiano, blanket, and stockings.
HTZ is the opposite. If the color can or would be changed based upon the genetics because they are incomplete dominant recessive, then it's heterozygous. For example XX, Bb, RbRb, CHCH, Mm, Qq, VpVp would be considered heterozygous because all of the genes are incomplete dominant, meaning only 50% or less of the foals would get them. And even though it is dominant for champagne that is a color modifier but not a complete color changer and can be acted on no matter that color it is. Also due to the fact that over half of the tiniquine's genetics are Dominant Recessive and it is the only Dominant gene would make it a Classic Champagne Rabicano Roan Marble Appalooosa (HTZ).
Make sense?
